Lewis Part Two

Only half a mile to the stores.

This is the Butt of Lewis light house.

The rocky coast at the Butt

Looking North from the Butt of Lewis - the next land from here is Alaska.

Here I am with the rocks of the Butt in the background.

A pillar of rock at the Butt. This was the furthest North we went on our tour.

A long road to Stornoway.

It's Sunday and the fishing fleet is in.

It's Sunday and everything is closed, so time for some home made corned beef and potatoes.

A fine beach on Lewis, white sand, blue sea, blue sky, what more could anyone want? I think you can guess why it is deserted.

The view going down a hill into a small Lewis village.

This post box is miles from anywhere, I think it is another one just for the Hobbits.

Being a lighthouse keeper is not all dark stormy days, on sunny days you can paint your light house. If you look carefully you can see the keeper in action on a step ladder. This light house is on the Eye Peninsular, near the capital of Stornoway.

Goodbye to Stornoway. We are heading for Ullapool and the Mainland.
